![]() And that’s where the real-life Francos come in: To portray this kind of twisted bond, maybe you needed brothers. But what really animates The Disaster Artist is the beautiful union between Wiseau and his lead actor, a Neutrogena-clean California kid named Greg Sestero. The facts of The Room are remarkable enough: Very much despite itself, it would make Wiseau - a cracked auteur and deathless dreamer - famous. And maybe, also, the right project - one that centers on a much-exaggerated, fun-house-mirror version of the Francos’ own bond. ![]() “But, after a while,” he’s said, “it felt like the right time.” The right time, certainly: Dave has indeed managed to establish his own name. Understandably enough, he never wanted anyone to think he was riding coattails. On the press tour for the movie, Dave has explained why he staged a moratorium from working with his brother for the decade or so he’s been acting professionally. And in part, The Disaster Artist can be read as a spinoff of the real, public relationship of James, the oddball, and Dave, the cheery all-American. It’s the first time Franco has acted alongside his brother Dave, the adorable baby Franco. It’s the best thing our ever-restless boy Franco has ever made. It’s a big, loopy comedy about a strange movie that shouldn’t have existed, let alone found love. I’ve even pitched him movies, I said I gotta be in business with this guy and now finally here we are,” Foxx tells Complex. “I don’t call it a coming-out party, because we already know how great he is, but to me, he got a chance to flex every muscle that I knew he would be able to do and just take over the film. The Disaster Artist, James Franco’s telling of the making of Tommy Wiseau’s The Room, is a lot of things. “I have been tracking Dave Franco for a long time. Foxx and Franco’s chemistry is the absolute highlight of the movie and made the bloody vampire flick worth watching. Complex caught up with the actors during a press junket for Day Shift in Miami and Foxx shared that he had his eyes set on working with Franco for years before they both signed up for the J.J. The film follows the story of a guy named Bud Jablonski (Foxx). Bud is a professional vampire hunter and killer but was kicked out of the vampire hunters union for breaking the rules and regulations. His range as an actor is impressive-who else can effortlessly go from Oscar-winning biopics to vampire-hunting action flicks? The vampire genre has been around since the beginning of time and with Day Shift, Foxx has teamed up with costar, Dave Franco, to deliver a fresh, fun iteration that is sure to provide fans of these styles of films with the kind of bloody gore and excitement they adore.
